Today we welcomed Simon and Eph to the group and they got stuck in with gusto, alongside the rest of us. The nine of us firstly set about gathering logs, wood and brash to successfully rebuild the dead hedge in the northwest corner, led by Bill. The weather was warm and easy to work in.
John led on coppicing a handful of small, largely dead, trees for path edging and we had enough to start some additional dead-hedging to the west.
We also reclaimed several pieces of usable path edging from tumbledown dens nearby and put them back to use. Stakes were fashioned with bill hooks to pin the path edging down and a visible improvement can already be seen.
Additional tasks included some removal of plastic guards and canes from young trees, occasional litter picking and plenty of hornet spotting by Julian. At the end of the work party, the team visited the new tool storage room in the Community Hall, which is being set up ready for the next work party.
