Only 5 of us today, but in fantastic weather we achieved some repairs to path edging below the north-east corner. In that area there were sections of edging that were rotting, sections with missing or rotten stakes, and sections that were simply missing, seemingly taken for use elsewhere. There was a little material lying around, plus more from a fallen tree near the northern entrance. In addition we felled a couple of Ash in the vicinity, giving us a two substantial lengths of edging. The Ash was showing signs of die-back at the top, but further down it was quite usable.
We also coppiced a couple of small trees further down the path and brought the material back to produce stakes. Short stakes were cut to length, sharpened with billhooks, and hammered in to keep the edging in place. Something in the region of 30m of edging was renewed. Also Bill flattened more BMX biking humps that had appeared since we dealt with them during the previous work party. Thanks to all.
