One of the activities that requires significant effort by the Friends’ officers is the monitoring of the activities of the developers. The environment of the wood has changed immeasurably over the last few years, invariably in a negative way.
In the latest issue, the developers applied to spread “waste topsoil” (unlikely to be 100% quality topsoil) from the building site to the field north and west of the wood. (see https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/planningsearch/plandisp.aspx?AppNo=F%2F4603&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR2BaJRZuJpgFCoV2R4svsWLE0_UT9OqufiuRuKh0ySxPHY34JXgRwVy104_aem_AfUyhwDH3fFwogPjyXpOFrKfKAzlChrEwNafozvvh-Coec9l3MbBSHADTLXJVJbm34ptv1x7h_7bazv3x8nEQm7L )
Thanks largely to Richard, the Friends submitted a detailed technical objection to this application – as well as a rebut to the developers’ inadequate response to this objection. Richard also presented at the subsequent planning meeting – but was not allowed to respond to statements made following his presentation at that meeting. Regrettably our objections were not deemed significant enough, and the application was approved.
Hence the current temporary closure of paths and activity of earth moving vehicles.
