This week John, Tim, and new recruit Bob conducted the annual inspection of our nest boxes.
As well as clearing out nest material and disinfecting, each box is checked for damage. This year four were removed and four new nest boxes were installed. Unfortunately the damaged boxes proved to be beyond repair, so our numbers are static at 30 in total. (Many of the nest boxes are 10 years old, which is close to their expected lifespan.)
Three of the new boxes were sited in the northern part of the wood, which has been a popular area for nesting recently.
Thanks to all for a full morning’s work.
