An appeal to dog walkers

0

The Wildlife Trusts recently requested that dog walkers keep their animals on a lead during the nesting season in order to protect nesting birds from disturbance which can result in nest abandonment.

(In fact he law says that you “must keep your dog on a lead no longer than 2 metres between 1st March and 31st July, when on any open access land to protect ground-nesting birds”.)

This is very relevant to Sharphill Wood as we have several species of ground- and low-nesting birds including chiffchaff, dunnock, blackbird and wren.
