There are three official access points to Sharphill Wood, one at the northern end (Peveril entrance) and two at the south-eastern corner. There is no access directly from a road and no nearby car park.
1 The Peveril entrance –
This is reached by walking from the top (southern end) of Peveril Drive, West Bridgford. Walk up the hill to the top where you will see the Peveril Entrance to the wood. This entrance can also be accessed via the Spinney: the track that runs from Loughborough Road, along the eastern side of the cemetery, takes you to a path left, across the field, to the Peveril Entrance.
2 The main “Wheatcroft entrance and 3 The Kissing Gate Entrance –
These can be accessed by walking along the road past the Notcutts Garden Centre (formerly Wheatcrofts) on your right to the industrial estate and going straight into the field. Continue to walk parallel to the A50 with the hedge on your left. At the corner of the field the path goes through a gap in the hedge and turns right, towards the wood.
This point can also be reached from the southern side of the A52 via an underpass off Landmark Lane (opposite Wayte Court). Climbing out of the underpass, the path turns right to the end of the field, then left a few metres before crossing through the hedge.
