Work Party, 9/1/22

0

A fantastic turnout of 15 volunteers (including 5 starters) helped to complete the planting of whips kindly funded by Rushcliffe Nature Conservation Special Interest Group. Having completed the northern-most third of the western boundary last month, today we completed a further third, skipping some places where existing vegetation was thick enough. In total we have planted close on 650 whips over the last three work parties. We may be able to source a small number of further whips this winter, but the majority of the remainder of the western side will be a task for next winter. In addition, Chrissie gave a short talk to some of the newer volunteers about conflicts between the wood as a nature reserve and the wood as an amenity for recreation. David distributed some stones to muddier sections of the central path. Thanks to all involved.

We are keen to hear about your experiences on work parties. Please send feedback (positive AND critical) to John (who will anonymise this if you wish). It would be helpful to have some positive testimonials – or just comments even – when trying to recruit new members!
