Another fantastic work party in fine weather. The main task was planting 20 canopy trees (Oak and Small-leaved Lime) in a 4th trial planting area near the southern end, next to the east path. The area had recently been brush-cut to remove bramble, but nevertheless digging was quite tricky because of roots and stones. Our 8 volunteers (including newcomer Vicky) did a great job planting the trees and installing posts, ties and mulch mats. After that we cleared some fallen/felled branches to regain access to some of the nest boxes in the central area, re-installed a box that had come off a tree, and cleared a small quantity of branches that were partly obstructing the west path. On our way back we brought down an old bar stool that had been tipped by the northern entrance.
