Today we continued work removing invasive Sycamore, this time towards the northern end of the site. We used a tree popper for uprooting some of the smaller specimens and saws for the larger stems. Brash was taken to the western boundary and piled up there ready for use in a planned dead-hedge to block a gap. In addition, Bill removed a tree root from the path near the northern entrance, and a small quantity of litter was removed, including a substantial piece of metal that was probably part of a bike stand. With much of the canopy still in place we were sheltered from the rain, which had not been forecast, so conditions were quite pleasant for the 7 fantastic volunteers.
