The weather was cloudy but fine this morning, making for comfortable working conditions. Among the 9 participants, it was great to welcome former volunteer Ian, who moved from the area a few years ago, and new volunteer Stephen. The main task was to repair path edging at the northern end of the eastern path, and for this purpose we coppiced a few small trees to obtain poles and stakes. Also some useful material was obtained from small trees uprooted when a large tree was blown over recently. Brash was used to construct some dead-hedging to block gaps in the boundary. Bill planted an Oak, grown from a local acorn by visitor Rosemary, and also cleared from the boardwalk some soil deposited by badgers and levelled out yet more bike humps. Ian pulled up some invasive Sycamore saplings. An elaborate den was found and reported to Streetwise for removal. Participants observed some spring flowers, including Wood Anemone and Lesser Celandine, and work was accompanied by the singing of Chiffchaff and the cooing of Stock Dove. Thanks to all
