10 super volunteers were undaunted by the somewhat muddy conditions today. The weather was kind, allowing comfortable working sheltered from the westerly. The main task was coppicing more trees near the eastern path and extending/improving the path edging in the north-east. Some decent lengths of edging were obtained and fixed into position with stakes. Additional tasks included clearing bramble from the approach to one of our nest boxes (thanks to Will, with a modicum of help from his mum), uprooting a few invasive Sycamore saplings using our tree popper, removal of a few ancient nest boxes that were past their sell-by date and not worth repairing, and clearing mud from the start of the path up from Peveril Drive to allow easier passage of wheelbarrows. There was a noisy Great Spotted Woodpecker overhead at the end, but I doubt it was bothered by our removal of a few small trees. A big thank you to all who helped.
