This was certainly the coldest work party for a long time – freezing at the start, somewhat slippery up the hill, and only a few degrees above zero when we finished after lunch. However, this failed to deter the 12 who turned out. We concentrated initially on an area in the centre of the wood where we had previously done some coppicing and invasive species removal. Some of the material from this, and from a certain amount of further coppicing, was suitable for path edging and stakes. The remainder was stacked into habitat piles. The path edging material was carried to the northern end, and some 50m of edging was laid along the stretch between the board walk and the northern entrance. In addition, a certain amount of litter was collected and David distributed some more stones to muddy areas of the paths. Thanks to all.
