A combination of the weather and closeness to Christmas limited participation today, but we were delighted to welcome two new volunteers, Jess and Paul. There was a gap in the rain when we started, and for much of the work party it was fairly light. We removed the mulch mats (geotex) from the first trial planting area, and cleared bramble from what will become the third trial planting area, a little bit further north along the main path. There is a substantial gap in the canopy, so hopefully the Oak and Small-leaved Lime we will receive from RBC soon will thrive there. Meanwhile David distributed stones to the steps below the kissing gate at the southern entrance. Rain got steadier about noon, so we finished early and got a little wet returning down the hill.
