The sudden arrival just before Christmas of 10 canopy trees donated by Rushcliffe Borough Council prompted an additional work party to get them planted. Fortunately we had managed to get the planting area cleared of bramble at the previous work party, so with just 4 volunteers we were today able to get the 5 oak and 5 small-leaved lime trees planted and staked. This time we are experimenting with bio-degradable coir mulch mats. This was after quite some difficulty getting the barrows up the hill, our boots just not wanting to grip the muddy slope. We also repaired the tape blocking off the collapsed path, encouraging people to use the diversion to avoid more damage and the possibility of personal injury if there is a further collapse.
