Early last year another hole opened up near to the boardwalk on the central path. Yet another badger tunnel had collapsed.
Following an inspection, Rushcliffe Borough Council decided to extend the existing boardwalk to make safe the public footpath. We are expecting this work to be carried out during February 2024.
The Council also wants to make improvements to those sections of the central path which are prone to becoming very muddy by laying stones/gravel down. This approach has been successful in several areas, thanks to the efforts of one of our members, David, as well as at least one work party. It is likely that this work will be carried out at the same time as the boardwalk extension.
AND clearly the culprits can’t take a hint – they are still building extensions to their home as witnessed by recent earth heaped onto the boardwalk!
