This is a photo of “Trial Planting Area 4”, towards the southern end of the eastern path. In the winter of 2021/2 we planted 18 standard trees – oak and lime – donated by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
Sadly all of the oaks died during the summer of 2022 but the limes were doing well. (The council promised to provide replacements for the oaks but these did not materialise.)
It now seems that just 3 of the lime trees are growing following the recent winter. Conservation work is sometimes not as successful as we would like..
