Butterflies! Your help needed!

0

As a group we have a responsibility to monitor the flora and fauna of the wood. (It’s in our management plan!) We have little information about what butterflies are present and when, so during 2023 we want to make an effort to record all sightings.

Please would you email sharphillwood@yahoo.co.uk if you spot a butterfly that you can identify, ideally but not essentially with a photo. The sightings will be sent to the Notts Butterfly Recorder, Steve Mathers for input into the county, and possibly national, database(s). For a complete record we need the following information:

Date,
Location name/description,
Grid Ref (6 figure or better),
Species,
Quantity,
Recorder Name,
Life Stage (e.g. Adult, Egg, Larva or Pupa).

We will assume that you are happy for your name to be included with each record.

The recording season is March to October and the results will be reported back to our members, as well as contributing to the total information known about butterflies in Nottinghamshire.

Thank you!
