Lorna Griffiths (City Nature Recovery Officer for the Notts Wildlife Trust) recently checked the bat boxes in the wood. This is her report.
Three boxes had bats in:
- Box 4 had at least 2 brown long-eared bats, could have been more but they were tucked away inside spider webs, so it was difficult to tell if there were more behind them.
- Box 7 (the box near the holly that had bats before) had at least 4 soprano pipistrelles, they were clustered together, so again, couldn’t see if there were others hiding behind them.
- Box 8 had 1 soprano pipistrelle.
